For an experience unlike no other, classical music fans should visit in August when the annual Wagner Festival, considered one of the finest Opera Festivals in the world, is in full swing.

Honoring Richard Wagner, the composer’s spectacular operas including Parsifal, the Flying Dutchman and “The Ring” (der Nibelungen) are enacted in a specially designed theatre: Bayreuth’s Wagner Festspielhaus. The theatre’s very construction (with plenty of innovations and with space for larger orchestras) was overseen by Wagner himself. Indeed, the very idea of the Festival was his!
